en-Every Last Word - Tamara Ireland Stone review

05/08/2020

Samantha McAllister looks just like the rest of the popular girls in her junior class. But hidden beneath the straightened hair and expertly applied makeup is a secret that her friends would never understand Sam has Purely-Obsessional OCD and is consumed by a stream of dark thoughts and worries that she can't turn off.

Second-guessing every move, thought, and word makes daily life a struggle, and it doesn't help that her lifelong friends will turn toxic at the first sign of a wrong outfit, wrong lunch, or wrong crush. Yet Sam knows she'd be truly crazy to leave the protection of the most popular girls in school. So, when Sam meets Caroline, she has to keep her new friend with a refreshing sense of humor and no style a secret, right up there with Sam's weekly visits to her psychiatrist.

Caroline introduces Sam to Poet's Corner, a hidden room and a tight-knit group of misfits who have been ignored by the school at large. Sam is drawn to them immediately, especially a guitar-playing guy with a talent for verse and starts to discover a whole new side of herself. Slowly, she begins to feel more "normal" than she ever has as part of the popular crowd . . . until she finds a new reason to question her sanity and all she holds dear.

I found this book on Pinterest. I was scrolling through my feed and I came across this one in a post that said 'most heartbreaking stories you must read if you loved the fault in our stars'. I started looking some of them up, and this one spoke to me from the beginning on. So, I decided to give it a go and I ordered it online.

I don't know what to say. This book wrecked me!! It made me feel heartbroken and betrayed and sad all at the same time. But in an incredibly good way!!! This was because of this major plot twist that happened, and I didn't see it coming. This book is no doubt one of the best books I have read this year!

It started kind of strange. I was shocked with the thoughts Samantha had at the beginning of this book and I did not know what I could expect from this book. The story took me along it's journey and I found myself completely absorbed by it. I had finished this book in a day and a half. I just couldn't put it down anymore. I was literally obsessed with this book while I was reading. I couldn't think straight anymore. The only thing I could think about was "I need to continue reading this book and I need answers".

I felt sorry for Samantha's character. We see how hard she is struggling to fit in and to hide the one thing that has control over her whole life. She is so brave and inspiring, and I was just hoping that everything would turn out right for her. She deserved that!

I'm not going to spoil anything, but that plot twist though! My heart stopped. It felt like it was ripped out of my ribcage! I was stunned and surprised. I could not believe what I was reading. I still can't believe it. It was so out of nowhere and shocking. And that ending though. It broke my heart all over again. Tears were streaming down my face. But it was such a beautiful ending. This book moved me so much! I would definitely recommend this book to everyone.

Read it and let it consume you.

I want to say thank you to the author for writing this amazing book! This book really did something to me, and I cannot find the words to describe it. I loved it so much and I still think about it daily. The plot twist was crazy, and it shocked me. I literally screamed and I wanted to throw some stuff around the room. It hit me right in the feels and I don't think I'll ever recover from that. And I mean this in a good way! So thank you Tamara Ireland Stone for writing this incredible story that made me feel happy and sad. That made me feel good and ripped my heart out at the same time. So, I just want to say "Thank you <3'
