The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue - V.E. Schwab review
A Life No One Will Remember. A Story You Will Never Forget.
France,
1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian
bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she
meets.
Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a
dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents,
across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to
leave her mark on the world.
But everything changes when, after
nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden
bookstore and he remembers her name.

I've been looking for a while now to read a book by V.E. Schwab. I've always wanted to read 'The Shades of magic' trilogy, but I still haven't found a chance to read it. So I took the chance to read The Invisible Life Of Addie Larue, when I came across it. And I must admit that I fell in love with the Dutch version of this book. The cover is absolutely stunning! When you lift of the dustjacket, you see a light blue cover with a golden cat engraved. It's so beautiful! Definitely one of the most beautiful books that I own.
I was so excited for this one that I dove right into it. It started off rather mysterious, which got my attention immediately. I was very curious so I really wanted to keep on reading, I couldn't stop it. The rest of the story stayed rather 'mysterious' for me, that's the feeling I got with the rest of it. I thought it would be so overwhelming and breathtaking, but this didn't happen to me. It got kind of long-winded in my opinion. I started to lose my concentration and I was feeling kind of bored sometimes. I really had a hard time to keep my mind focused on the book, which I feel kind of bumped for.
The story itself was really well written! It's a nice read to itself and even the characters are nice and it's easy to bond with them. I could really feel the main character's pain. I felt all of her emotions and they seemed so real. I could really feel how she felt and what she thought. Her life must have been so hard and overwhelming sometimes.
Long story short: It was a nice read, but I expected a little bit more. I was not blown away from the story, but I didn't hate it either.
