The Spanish Love Deception - Elena Armas Review

25/11/2022

Catalina Martín desperately needs a date to her sister's wedding. Especially since her little white lie about her American boyfriend has spiralled out of control. Now everyone she knows-including her ex and his fiancée-will be there and eager to meet him.

She only has four weeks to find someone willing to cross the Atlantic and aid in her deception. New York to Spain is no short flight and her raucous family won't be easy to fool.

Enter Aaron Blackford-her tall, handsome, condescending colleague-who surprisingly offers to step in. She'd rather refuse; never has there been a more aggravating, blood-boiling, and insufferable man.

But Catalina is desperate, and as the wedding draws nearer, Aaron looks like her best option. And she begins to realize he might not be as terrible in the real world as he is at the office.

The Spanish Love Deception has become hugely famous through "Tiktok" and through "Instagram. This book has become a huge sensation, so to speak, on both platforms. Therefore, I had no choice but to scrutinize this book. Is this book worth the Tiktok and Instagram sensation?

I think this book is definitely worth the media attention. I enjoyed this story immensely. It is a wonderful feel-good novel that makes you forget about time. Surely, in my opinion, this is a gem that deserves the spotlight.

At the beginning of the book, I was not immediately completely sold on the book. 'The fake dating' cliché was invoked and I thought to myself 'surely not another story like this'. But as the story progressed I noticed that the story is really well put together. It's not just another cliché story. It goes much deeper than that. The chemistry between Catalina and Aaron is definitely palpable in this story. The tension between the characters rises as the story progresses.

The ending before the epilogue, in my opinion is a bit "rushed" though. This could have been more elaborate in my opinion. I felt it could have been a bit more elaborate around their relationship in the workplace, before the co-workers found out about their relationship. But this is purely my own opinion of course.
